Chelsea’s win against Liverpool on Sunday was a huge moment in the season, another 3 points which keeps us alive in the race for the Champions League spots.
A major part of the win was the defensive efforts of Levi Colwill and Trevoh Chalobah at centre back. They kept the Reds’ attacking threat to a minimum, despite the away team dominating possession.
Levi Colwill speaks to Chelsea TV at full time.
But all their work keeping Mo Salah and co. at bay would have been worthless had the players ahead of them managed to score the goals needed to turn the result from one point into three.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Colwill praised one man whose performance opened up the game and played a part in all 3 goals – Cole Palmer. The attacker came off a long goal drought with a superb performance capped off with a late penalty goal.
“It was great for him to be able to secure the game. We want him to score,” Colwill said of his team’s talisman.
“He deserves it, he’s been the best player almost every single game, even if he doesn’t provide the goals or assists. It meant a lot to him and it made us all happy.”
Colwill also had some positive words for the fans at Stamford Bridge, whom he thanked for their support and efforts in getting the team over the line to three points as they dug in deep later in the game:
“It pushes us over the line. At times when we’re stuck in a low block and we’re defending, it gives us that extra belief and that extra man to try to not concede.
“Every game is a final from now on. We all know that and we’re excited to get into the games.”
