The overriding feeling on Wednesday night was one of disappointment for AS Monaco. The Principality club dominated for large periods of their UEFA Champions League encounter against Tottenham Hotspur, but could not make it count as the game ended in a goalless draw.

It was the man of the match, Vicario, who earned the point from Thomas Frank’s side, one for which they were grateful. “The man of the match was the goalkeeper, so that says a lot,” said Sébastien Pocognoli in a press conference attended by Get French Football News.

The Belgian, who only arrived less than two weeks ago, replacing Adi Hutter, shared his thoughts on the game. “I asked the dressing room how they felt about the result, to understand their feeling. There are some who said they had regrets, and others who felt proud. These were the two feelings which I share. When you create so many chances against a team of this level and you keep a clean sheet, it is a shame not to take the three points, which were more than deserved,” said Pocognoli.

However, Pocognoli is happy to see such progress in such a short time. “We will gain a lot more in the long term by playing like this. I prefer this to winning 1-0, but by defending for the whole match and showing nothing positive. Of course, we will need to gain points,” admitted the Monaco manager, but it is by playing like they did against Tottenham that he hopes they will come.
