Daniel Thioune has been appointed as Werder Bremen’s new head coach, unveiled on Wednesday as the replacement for recently sacked Horst Steffen.
According to BuLi News, the club confirmed the 51-year-old’s arrival after positive talks about his ideas and the current situation.
Werder’s managing director for professional football, Clemens Fritz, said discussions with Thioune were very good and that his personality and approach were decisive. He added the club are convinced they will achieve a turnaround with him.
Thioune, out of work since his dismissal by Fortuna Düsseldorf in October, said he is looking forward to working with the team. He said he is convinced they will work effectively to achieve the club’s goals, and that strong talks quickly made him want to join.
The new head coach will lead his first training session today at 14:00.
