Roma’s Wesley, a Flamengo academy graduate, stayed up in Italy to watch his former club’s Carioca final shootout against Fluminense.
According to Coluna Do Fla, his wife Amanda França posted a photo of him following the penalties at around 20:30 Brasília time, which was 00:30 in Italy, four hours ahead.
Flamengo lifted the trophy after a 0-0 draw, winning the shootout 5-4. Luiz Araújo missed first for the Rubro-Negro, but Agustín Rossi saved from Guga and Otávio.
A right-back during his Flamengo days, he has been used on the left wing for Roma. The academy product has been among the standouts this season, with four goals and one assist in 32 games in 2025/26.
His versatility in Italian football makes him a strong candidate for mid-year World Cup selection. He could also return to the Maracanã on 31 May, when Brazil face Panama in their final friendly before the tournament.
If he stayed up until 00:30 to celebrate the title, he would need to go through the night to watch Flamengo face Cruzeiro on Wednesday 11 at 21:30 Brasília time, 01:30 in Italy.
