West Bromwich Albion have confirmed the appointment of Eric Ramsay as their new head coach, turning to one of the game’s most highly rated young coaches as they look to steady their Championship season and reset the club’s direction.
Ramsay, 34, joins from MLS side Minnesota United and takes on his first senior managerial role in English football. His arrival follows the dismissal of Ryan Mason after a run of inconsistent results left West Brom drifting toward the bottom end of the table.

Despite his relative youth, Ramsay brings an impressive coaching résumé. After an early transition from playing to coaching, he rose quickly through Chelsea’s academy before joining Manchester United’s first-team staff, working under Ole Gunnar Solskjær, Ralf Rangnick, and Erik ten Hag. He also became the youngest British coach to earn a UEFA Pro Licence.
Ramsay moved into senior management with Minnesota United in 2023 and quickly established a reputation for defensive tactics with a squad compiled on a modest budget. However, he led the club to consecutive MLS playoff appearances.
West Brom’s hierarchy believe Ramsay’s modern approach and adaptability can translate to the Championship.
Ramsay’s immediate task will be to pull the Baggies clear of relegation danger and restore stability at The Hawthornes.
