Albion, now led by James Morrison, are making early inroads into their transfer activity, with the Baggies set to seal the permanent signing of England U20 international forward Jimmy-Jay Morgan from Chelsea for a reported fee of £1.3m, while Liverpool defender Carter Pinnington is also expected to link up at The Hawthorns, although he will originally be placed into their U21's setup.

And now the Baggies are primed to welcome Falkirk striker Barney Stewart to the Black Country too, with the frontman catching the eye of a number of Championship clubs given his exploits in Scotland.

Oxford United and Lincoln City were both credited with interest, but it appears West Brom are leading the way to secure a deal.

It is believed an agreement has been reached between Albion and Falkirk, with Stewart poised to sign a four-year contract with the Baggies, keeping him at the club until 2030.

But how much will West Brom be paying to secure the services of the 22-year-old? A report from the Scottish Sun reveals all.

As per a report made by the Scottish Sun, it has revealed West Brom will be breaking Falkirk’s record transfer sale by signing Barney Stewart on a permanent basis.

The Scotsman was understood to have been in Birmingham for talks with Albion, with all that remains to be finalised is small details of the contract.

The article says that the fee Falkirk are set to receive will eclipse the £1m they banked from Norwich City for Conor McGrandles in 2014, with the Baggies expected to splash out a seven-figure fee on a forward who they have a lot of belief in.

The 22-year-old has been deserving of such a rapid rise after scoring 18 goals in 33 matches during the last campaign that saw him begin on loan at Dunfermline.

Now, he will expected to be the leading source of goals for the Baggies, who are hopeful of a season where they will be situated towards the top end of the Championship standings, rather than being involved in another relegation scrap.

After releasing Daryl Dike and Josh Maja yet to commit his future, the Baggies needed to move swiftly to address their very light forward area, and it seems like Barney Stewart will be coming through the doors to add some much-needed firepower.

And the 22-year-old will certainly enter the building with confidence, with an electric goalscoring spell in Scotland hopefully being repeated in the second tier.

Stewart is certainly an imposing figure that Albion have been crying out for, able to consistently get on the end of teasing crosses, while he’s a player whose physical with his size and height, as well as possessing power and pace that can cause opposition defenders nightmares.

If he can use these attributes to great effect in the Championship, then it could be an instrumental addition to a promotion push forming, with Baggies supporters optimistic that the club have landed on a gem that can take the division by storm.
