Matt Gill’s future at West Brom remains unresolved after playing a key part in James Morrison’s survival run.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Morrison would like to keep the coach, but staff decisions will be reviewed after the season.

Morrison’s long unbeaten streak secured Championship safety and earned him the permanent job after three interim spells in 12 months.

Gill arrived after Morrison’s first match as interim. The former EFL midfielder, once Ipswich’s first-team coach, has built a strong reputation and worked with Russell Martin at MK Dons, Swansea, Southampton and Rangers.

Several Albion players highlighted Gill’s influence during the run-in.

Given his history with Martin, and with the former Southampton manager linked with Watford, fans have debated whether Gill could reunite with him.

There is still no confirmation he will stay next season. For Gill, it was an enjoyable, rewarding nine-week, 11-game stint, and he was pleased to have played a small part in safety.
