Crystal Palace full-back Danny Imray is in talks with West Brom over a loan move to the Championship club.

West Bromwich Albion's new head coach Eric Ramsay is continuing to utilise the transfer window to build his own squad at The Hawthorns.

Since the former Minnesota United boss took the managerial reins, West Brom have signed goalkeeper Max O'Leary from Championship rivals Bristol City.

Ramsay has endured a tough start to life with the Baggies, failing to yield a win from his first three games, while suffering two defeats, including a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Norwich City.

The Black Country outfit drew 1-1 with Derby County last Friday, and will hope to go one better with a victory over Portsmouth this Saturday in a bid to try and move up the table and away from the relegation zone.

The Baggies' draw with Derby leaves them just three points clear of the Championship drop zone, outlining the relegation fears that Ramsay is contending with.

However, enjoying a successful end to the winter transfer window could give West Brom every chance of climbing the second-tier table, away from danger.

And as reported by The Telegraph's Mike McGrath on X, Crystal Palace right-back Danny Imray is in talks with the Baggies over a loan move to The Hawthorns.

The 22-year-old has never made a senior appearance for the Eagles and has instead gained experience in loan stints with Chelmsford, Bromley, and most recently Blackpool in League One, where he played 13 times and registered four goal contributions in his brief stint in Lancashire.

Operating as a flying wing-back since Ian Evatt's appointment at Bloomfield Road, Imray shone in the final few weeks at Blackpool, who would have been hoping to see the defender return to the club before the end of the window if Palace felt they did not need him - but they're set to be blown out of the water.

Eric Ramsay needs to complete strong signings as he battles to guide West Brom away from the drop zone, and back towards the top-half of the Championship table.

And Imray's career to date suggests that he could help the 33-year-old achieve those goals.

The right-back is clearly highly thought of at Palace, as he was named in their matchday squad for recent Premier League encounters with Sunderland and Chelsea, albeit as an unused substitute, having been recalled from his loan spell with Blackpool earlier this month.

Furthermore, despite the Lancashire club's lowly position in League One, Imray showed his attacking qualities as well as his defensive capabilities, notching two goals and two assists in 13 third-tier appearances.

The former Chelmsford man was also a major asset for Bromley last term, scoring two goals and producing seven assists in 43 outings across all competitions, and he's naturally making small steps up through his career.

Having succeeded in League One this season and League Two last campaign, Imray appears capable of performing for West Brom in the Championship, and Ramsay looks committed to using wing-backs - which is what the Eagles man does best.

If the Baggies move for the 22-year-old's signature swiftly, he could make his debut for Ramsay's men in time for Saturday's trip to Portsmouth.

The clash between Albion and Pompey at Fratton Park is a vital one, as John Mousinho's men have relegation worries of their own, sitting just one point and one place above 22nd-place Blackburn Rovers.
