West Brom will report back for pre-season on June 25, the same day the EFL releases the new fixture list. It marks James Morrison’s first campaign as head coach and signals preparations stepping up.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, after a quiet start to summer, business could accelerate when the transfer window opens on Monday, with Albion aiming to act early. Morrison has remained in close contact with director of football operations Ian Pearce and technical director Dominic Price.
This is the first window since Bilkul’s 2024 takeover not driven by the need to slash losses inherited from previous owners. The club must still observe profit and sustainability rules, but have more flexibility and do not need to sell before buying.
Goalkeeper Max O’Leary is the only player to have agreed a new contract so far. Talks continue with forward Karlan Grant, while Albion await striker Josh Maja’s decision on the terms offered.
Morrison also hopes to finalise his staff, with assistant Matt Gill impressing on a short-term deal and Albion keen to keep him. Pre-season includes a behind-closed-doors game with Sheffield Wednesday at St George’s Park on July 11 and a trip to Peterborough on August one, with further dates to follow.
