West Brom are poised to support a change to Championship financial rules at a vote on Friday.

ExpressAndStar.com understands that Albion will back replacing profit and sustainability regulations with a squad cost ratio model.

The SCR would cap player costs at 85 per cent of football revenue and permit an annual £10 million capital injection towards revenue. Many second-tier clubs want greater scope to invest in pursuit of promotion.

The proposal requires 16 of the 24 clubs to pass. Premier League clubs voted last November to swap PSR, which allowed £105 million losses across three years, for the SCR.

Albion have advocated the move for the long term and have supported it since Shilen Patel's Bilkul Football bought the club from Guochuan Lai more than two years ago.

Albion were docked two points last month after breaching the Championship's £39 million three-year loss limit. The club maintain their innocence but, after receiving written reasons last week, chose not to appeal having already secured safety.

Albion were forecast to have more room to manoeuvre under PSR from this summer. The SCR would also allow owners to speculate further, with more emphasis on revenue streams.
