West Brom are exploring a loan for Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson, according to Football League World.

The 25-year-old academy graduate has struggled for minutes since Robin Roefs arrived in the summer window, and has made only one senior appearance this season.

Speculation over his future has grown, with Millwall, Southampton and QPR among Championship sides linked with interest.

The Baggies are enduring a difficult start under new head coach Eric Ramsay, sitting three points above the relegation zone after losing their first two matches, and are assessing ways to strengthen. In goal, Josh Griffiths and Joe Wildsmith have shared duties since Alex Palmer joined Ipswich Town last year.

Sunderland head coach Regis Le Bris has said Patterson could depart this month if a suitable replacement is secured, and underlined that competition means Roefs currently starts ahead of him.

There have been claims that Sunderland have opened talks with Borussia Monchengladbach over a loan for 32-year-old Jonas Omlin, a four-cap Switzerland international who has not played this season and is deputy to Moritz Nicolas.
