West Brom working on deal for French defender Nolan Galves | OneFootball

West Brom are working on a deal to sign French right-back Nolan Galves from Ligue 2 side Rodez, with Southampton also pushing.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, negotiations are ongoing and Albion hope to make progress in the coming days, with the 23-year-old set to choose his destination.

Galves made 36 appearances last season, recording eight assists, including one in the promotion and relegation play-off.

His arrival would add to a defensive rebuild that has already seen Connor Townsend return to The Hawthorns on Friday and young centre-back Carter Pinnington join from Liverpool last month.

QPR and Millwall have also been linked this summer, as have Young Boys and OGC Nice.

James Morrison has said the club are working extremely hard to add more signings ahead of the new Championship season, and defence remains a priority alongside wide attacking reinforcements.

Mikey Johnston is currently the only recognised senior winger in the squad, and Albion retain an interest in bringing Danny Imray back.

Pre-season continued on Saturday with a 4-1 win at League Two side Shrewsbury Town, while another Albion XI lost 3-1 to Notts County earlier in the day.
