West Ham are waiting for a formal offer from Flamengo for Lucas Paquetá to advance talks. According to Globo.com, terms were broadly aligned in meetings this week, but gaps remain.

The player’s representatives have met both clubs in recent days and information has flowed. Hopes of concluding a deal on Friday faded because no formal meeting took place.

Paquetá is pushing in England to return to Brazil, and the London club have signalled a willingness to sell to Flamengo. Timing is under debate, with West Ham preferring to keep him until May.

Flamengo say they will not accept that model and want Paquetá now. Even so, the club have not yet submitted an official bid, as the board gather details to match terms West Ham would accept.

Indicative figures have emerged in informal talks about a deal this window. One discussion left Flamengo believing they could reach €35 million, R$ 217 million, fixed plus €5 million, R$ 31 million, in bonuses. The football department are finalising terms to present to president Bap before formalising any offer.

A Flamengo academy graduate, Paquetá debuted in 2016, became a starter in 2017 and joined Milan in January 2019. He then moved to Lyon and signed for West Ham in 2022.

If closed at those figures, the move would be the biggest in Brazilian club history, surpassing Gerson’s transfer to Cruzeiro. In January, Flamengo have added defender Vitão, ex-Inter, and goalkeeper Andrew, ex-Gil Vicente.
