A West Ham United supporter has called on the club to sack manager Julen Lopetegui after a shocking start to the 2024/25 Premier League campaign.

Lopetegui took the reins from club legend and long-serving West Ham manager David Moyes, tasking with taking the club up a notch after their ninth-place finish last term.

There were plenty of expectations from the Hammers, given the amount of money invested into overhauling the ageing squad Moyes left behind.

However, Lopetegui has so far failed to get a tune out of his exciting squad, with the Hammers languishing in 14th place in the Premier League table, just three points above the relegation zone.

West Ham’s awful start to the season has put Lopetegui under immense pressure, and the club faithful have already started calling for the club to axe the Spaniard just five games into the season.

“I honestly think Lopetegui isn’t the right man for us,” a West Ham fan said on talkSPORT.

“Against Chelsea, we looked devoid of any ideas. I’ll go as far as to say that even Jarrod Bowen looked totally out of his depth against them.

“I mean, given that under David Moyes, we’ve beaten Chelsea three times.

“I just honestly think that Lopetegui is taking us into a relegation battle, whereas previously, we’ve been in Europe. We’ve won a European trophy.”

West Ham have won just one of their opening five Premier League games and have just four points to their name thus far, having claimed a last-minute draw against Fulham before the Chelsea defeat.

The fixtures do not get any easier for Lopetegui’s side as they take on Liverpool in the EFL Cup third round before travelling across the capital to take on Brentford in yet another London derby.

Lopetegui is already fighting for his job, but if results don’t go West Ham’s way over the next few games, the club could be forced into a managerial change to steer the campaign back on track.
