West Ham United are in the final stages of a deal to sign Lazio striker Valentín ‘Taty’ Castellanos, with a “white smoke” agreement now imminent. According to Lalaziosiamonoi.it, the two clubs have intensified contacts in the last few hours to finalize a transfer that has been in the works for several months.

The deal is expected to be worth €29 million. A key detail of the agreement involves New York City FC, who are entitled to a 10% sell-on fee from the total figure due to a clause inserted when the Argentine originally moved to the Italian capital. Lazio director Angelo Fabiani is currently working at Formello to iron out the final administrative details, allowing the 27-year-old to fly to London shortly.

For Lazio, the sale is a strategic necessity. Beyond the player’s own desire to leave Formello while remaining in Europe, the club needs the influx of cash to satisfy the liquidity parameters that have constrained their movements in recent transfer windows.

The funds generated from the Castellanos sale are expected to be immediately reinvested. Maurizio Sarri has reportedly identified Giacomo Raspadori as his primary target to bolster the attack, though the Biancocelesti face a difficult path as Atletico Madrid remains reluctant to sell the Italian international following his recent goal in the Copa del Rey.
