West Ham United have confirmed head coach Nuno Espírito Santo will stay on after relegation was sealed despite Sunday’s 3-0 win over Leeds United.

The club said in a statement that planning for next season began immediately after the final whistle and early-week talks with Nuno confirmed mutual commitment. It set an immediate return to the Premier League as the clear target and highlighted broader progress since January. The board also cited a haul of 25 points from the final 17 league matches, equating to 1.47 points per game and, over a full season, seventh place.

On the final day at the London Stadium, West Ham beat Leeds 3-0. Their relegation was still confirmed, with Tottenham Hotspur also winning at home to Everton. Leeds were already safe and finished 14th on 47 points.

Nuno met club chiefs on Monday for post-relegation talks.

The Portuguese has managed one Championship season before, taking Wolverhampton Wanderers to the 2018 title with 99 points.
