Bad news for Hammers ahead of Premier League clash at Villa Park
West Ham will be without Crysencio Summerville once again when they continue their fight for Premier League survival with a trip to Aston Villa.
The Dutch winger, who missed most of his debut campaign with the Hammers with a hamstring injury, has been one of the key men leading the club’s recent improved form under Nuno Espirito Santo, scoring seven times in his last 11 games across all competitions.
Summerville played on after receiving treatment for a calf issue during the FA Cup fifth-round win over Brentford on April 9, but was subsequently ruled out of last weekend’s meeting with Manchester City.In his absence, West Ham earned a 1-1 draw with Pep Guardiola’s title challengers. The club now go to Villa Park on Sunday afternoon in search of more crucial points, but Summerville able to play no part for the second match in a row.
“Cry[sencio] is not available for this game,” Nuno revealed at his pre-match press conference on Friday.
“He's getting better each day. We are assessing him every day, but for Sunday he's not going to be available, no.”
Elsewhere, Nuno confirmed young left-back Ollie Scarles was available after missing the City game.
“Ollie is OK,” Nuno added. “Outside of Cry, everybody is available and working.”
“I don't see Villa struggle. I saw the game on Thursday and I saw a very good team.
“Unai is an amazing manager and the quality of their players and the way they play football is really, really tough.
“My objective now is what they have been doing, what they did yesterday and what we expect. It's not comparing. I know we're going to face a very tough opponent.”
