West Ham United host Nottingham Forest at the London Stadium on Sunday 18th May at 2:15pm in the penultimate gameweek of the 2024-25 Premier League campaign. While West Ham are currently loitering in 15th, Forest are pushing for Champions League qualification, with each point likely to be significant in these final games. The game will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Premier League.
After failing to get the better of Leicester City, which was already relegated last weekend, I think Foest will feel the nerves on Sunday at West Ham. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side must win to keep their Champions League dream alive. With this in mind, I think there’s plenty of reason to get behind. a couple of pro-West Ham bets.
The first of those is Jarrod Bowen to score or assist at 13/10 with Paddy Power. Only Jacob Murphy (6) has been directly involved in more Premier League goals since the beginning of April than West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen (6 – 4 goals, 2 assists). This bet has landed in his last four matches, and with 11 goals and 7 assists in an under-performing Hammers side, he’s not getting the credit he deserves.
Last weekend I recommended backing Tomas Soucek to score and be carded at 29/1. The midfielder found the net against Manchester United, but unfortunately did not find his way into the book. That’s now four goals in his last seven league starts for Soucek, and I think the market is underestimating his ability in front of goal. At 17/4 with Unibet he looks a. solid proposition to score against a Forest side that have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last seven across all competitions, conceding 2+ in five of those.
Before their 2-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend, West Ham had been winless in the Premier League since the end of February when they beat Leicester City. With their safety now secure, Potter will hope his side can play for some pride in the final games, as he plans ahead for next season.
Meanwhile, Forest still have it all to play for. Despite only winning one of their last six Premier League games, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side still find themselves in the race for Champions League football with just two games to go. It could all be up for grabs on the final day against Chelsea if Forest can take all three points against West Ham.
West Ham will remain without Crysencio Summerville and Michail Antonio when they face Forest, but Edson Alvarez could be back in time for this one.
Callum Hudson-Odoi has been ruled out with a hamstring problem. Murillo is undergoing checks and being assessed for a potential hamstring issue picked up against Crystal Palace.
In their last five meetings, the home side has won every single time, with Forest winning three out of three at their ground and West Ham winning two out of two on their own soil.
