The Hammers finished 18th in the top flight, suffering relegation after a 14-year stint in the division.

The London outfit were two points adrift of safety, with a 3-0 win over Leeds United on the final day proving too little too late to turn things around under Nuno Espirito Santo.

West Ham’s last campaign in the Championship was led by Sam Allardyce, who led them to promotion through the play-offs just 12 months after suffering relegation.

While Espírito Santo will be hoping to repeat that feat, he will have to manage a tricky summer transfer window first, with a number of players likely to follow Mateus Fernandes out the door.

The likes of Crysencio Summerville and Jarrod Bowen have been the subject of transfer interest in recent weeks.

Bowen has confirmed that he will remain at the London Stadium beyond the summer, as he aims to help the club gain promotion back to the Premier League. The Athletic report he's signed a new contract that ensures he's tied down for 2026/27, although the length of the deal does not go beyond the expiry of his current terms to 2030.

The captain’s future was the subject of intense speculation, but he has put that to bed, with the team now back in training for pre-season.

The forward has claimed that the new majority shareholder Daniel Křetínský, as well as board member Jiri Svarc, helped convince him to stay, praising the ambition he’s shown already this summer.

“I flew out to Prague in Czech Republic to meet Daniel, Jiri, go out and speak, and the ambition that I got from Daniel and Jiri, certainly in terms of the direction the club wants to move in, it interests me a lot,” said Bowen, via the club’s official X account.

“It didn’t take a lot for me because this club means a lot to me.

“And as I said, done an interview after the game [against Leeds] and said my vision is to get this club back into the Premier League.”

Kretinsky previously held a minority stake in the Hammers, but agreed a deal with the family of David Gold to become the new majority shareholder following the club’s relegation.

The Czech businessman has already installed Nils Koppen to the sporting director role, as he looks to improve the day-to-day running behind the scenes.

How West Ham fans feel about Jarrod Bowen committing his future to the club

Bowen has received an outpouring of support from the fans for his decision to stick with the club following their relegation.

Supporters are optimistic that the team can now go and compete for, and win, the Championship title en route back to the top flight.

Meanwhile, some fans are hoping that this is the beginning of the Irons’ summer business, with zero signings through the door so far in the transfer market.

And others have claimed that Bowen’s loyalty will someday see a stand named after him.

West Ham will begin their league campaign on 16 August with a trip to face Burnley.

Jarrod Bowen news is a huge boost for West Ham and Daniel Kretinsky

Kretinsky has injected a sense of enthusiasm back into West Ham since agreeing to become the new majority shareholder, which was sorely needed after the club’s relegation.

And now Bowen committing his future will keep the positivity going ahead of the new campaign, as his loyalty will be massively welcomed by supporters.

The 29-year-old will be a key part of their promotion push, and he could really tear it up in the Championship next year given his impressive Premier League performances over the years.

West Ham will certainly be one of the promotion favourites, and Bowen’s decision to stay will only bolster that position.
