La Liga champions Barcelona are primed to kick their European campaign for the season into gear later this week.
A trip to England lies in store, for a Champions League league phase meeting with Newcastle United.
Barcelona will head into the matchup as clear favourites to emerge triumphant, but will be well aware of the challenges posed by a physically-imposing Newcastle side backed by a raucous crowd at St. James’ Park.
Should they ultimately emerge with the same result as managed by the Blaugrana in the last meeting between these two sides, though, Hansi Flick and co. would no doubt be more than happy.
Barca and Newcastle last locked horns all the way back in 2003.
On that occasion, on Tyneside, it was the former who emerged victorious, to the tune of a 2-0 result.
Patrick Kluivert and Thiago Motta netted the goals on the evening, to add to a previous Champions League group stage victory over the Magpies at the Camp Nou.
