AS Monaco have been in talks to sign Ansu Fati (22) since the start of the transfer window, however, an agreement is yet to be reached with Barcelona. The form of the deal is the sticking point, according to a report from L’Équipe.

Fati, who has featured sparingly for Barcelona and struggled during a loan spell at Brighton and Hove Albion during the 2023/24 season, is looking to get his career back on track. Monaco are providing the Spaniard that possibility, however, the Principality club are looking to take the player on loan, with a purchase option, rather than on a permanent basis. Barcelona would prefer a permanent transfer.

It is this, as well as the percentage of salary that Monaco would pay in the event of the loan, that is holding up Fati’s move to the Stade Louis II. The lack of departures in the forward areas for Monaco means that the Ligue 1 side aren’t pressed in their pursuit of the Barcelona winger.
