QPR fans are beginning to lose patience with French manager Julien Stephan following defeat at home to Southampton

Following defeat to Southampton on Wednesday evening, Queens Park Rangers fans are quickly beginning to lose patience with manager Julien Stephan, with four defeats in their last five outings and without a home win since mid-September, supporters have taken to social media to react to his post-match press conference.

It has been somewhat of a rollercoaster season so far for QPR.

Former Stade Rennes and Strasbourg manager Julien Stephan came in this summer to replace the outgoing Leicester City-bound Marti Cifuentes at Loftus Road, and he didn't get off to the best of starts.

The R's failed to win any of their opening four matches, which included a 3-2 defeat away at League One Plymouth Argyle in the EFL Cup and a 7-1 thumping away to Coventry City in the league, with early pressure being placed upon the Frenchman.

However, QPR responded emphatically by going unbeaten in their next six games, including four wins, which brought them all the way into the play-off places.

Now, they seem to have hit a rough run of form once more, with just one win and four defeats in their last five, pressure is once again starting to build on Stephan from R's supporters, who let their opinions be known on social media after responding to Stephan's post-match interview following a 2-1 home defeat to struggling Southampton.

Stephan claimed he 'enjoyed the game' and 'enjoyed the way his team played', despite the 2-1 defeat to Southampton, who had won just four out of their last 51 league games, leaving R's fans, understandably, frustrated by his comments.

QPR have now slumped to 16th in the table, with only Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday conceding more than their 23 goals this season, as alarm bells begin to ring around the West London club.

R's supporters have not been shy in sharing their opinions on the current state of the club and their displeasure with Stephan's comments following Wednesday night's defeat.

With Stephan's comment about enjoying the game, this QPR fan did not hold any punches in saying he didn't enjoy the game, falling behind 2-0 to a side with just three league away wins all year.

Although QPR, according to FotMob, mustered a much better expected goal return than Southampton and doubled the amount of shots that the away side had, R's fans were left feeling underwhelmed by their attacking prowess, labelling their attacks to be slow and their set-piece routines to be predictable.

A damning response by this QPR fan, who sums up all of QPR's problems at the moment in one tweet. Supporters are quickly beginning to lose patience with Stephan's team selection and lack of intensity in attack, and if something doesn't change soon, he could be treading on thin ice.

QPR fans have cited three main issues and frustrations with Stephan at the moment: a lack of speed and intensity in attack, the confusing team selections game-by-game, and the persistence in picking Paul Nardi in goal, who has been under fire for his performances this season.

Football is a results-based business, and regardless of whatever style of football a side plays, as long as the team is winning, more often than not, fans will not care too much.

At the moment, QPR fans are displeased with both the football and the performances, which can only spell trouble for the person in charge.

The R's travel to Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United for their final fixture before the international break, which could prove to be telling for Stephan, who, if he fails to get his side putting in a good standard of performance and a result, could find his position at the club to be precarious.

The Blades sit in the relegation zone with only city rivals Sheffield Wednesday beneath them after 14 games and are undergoing somewhat of a crisis themselves.

It will be a big game for both sides, but especially for Stephan, who will be expected to deliver a performance and a result expected of a side facing a club in an early relegation battle.
