Manchester United are set to add an experienced goalscorer to their ranks in Bayern Munich and Germany star Lea Schuller.
The Guardian have reported that the 28-year-old is set to become a Manchester United player.
Her addition will be a huge boost for head coach Marc Skinner, after United announced their first signing of the January transfer window on Saturday.
The addition of Lea Schuller willh bring a significant boost to the forward line of Manchester United.
Schuller has scored double-digits in terms of goals the last seven season for Bayern Munich. Her best season was in 2021-22 where she won the Golden Boot with 16 goals.
In total, she has scored 102 goals in 177 appearances for Bayern Munich with 54 goals in 82 caps for Germany.
This season she has netted eight goals in 16 appearances for Bayern Munich so far.
Schuller also creates chances for her teammates and has provided 25 assists during her time with Bayern Munich.
The 28-year-old is a central striker and will therefore offer competition to Elisabeth Terland, who has netted 22 goals in 47 appearances since joining Manchester United last year.
Schuller’s addition will boost United’s squad depth, with the Red Devils nine points behind Manchester City in the WSL in fourth.
She could make her debut when United return to action on January 10th against Arsenal.
Schuller will become Manchester United’s second January transfer window signing after Hanna Lundkvist joined the Red Devils.
Lundkvist joined the Red Devils as a free agent after leaving the San Diego Wave.
After the move was announced, Lundkvist said: “I am really excited to be here; Manchester United is a club with an amazing history. You can feel how much they have grown in the last few years, competing in one of the strongest leagues in the world and performing in the Champions League.
“Speaking with Marc and the coaches confirmed all of the great things I have heard about the culture of the team here. I cannot wait to get started and help the group to achieve more success.”
Schuller’s move to United looked likely after she left the pitch in tears after Bayern Munich’s last game.
The German international sat out the game with a reported illness, but took to the pitch after the game to greet Bayern Munich’s fans.
Manchester United have also announced that Japanese international Hinata Miyazawa has signed a new contract at the club.
