Real Madrid have travelled to Manchester to take on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City tonight, in the first leg of a two-legged tie for a place in the last-16 of the Champions League.

Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid side have been ravaged by injuries in the lead-up to the clash, meaning that certain players have had to play outside of their normal positions.

With the return of Eduardo Camavinga, it looks as though Federico Valverde is set to be displaced from his normal midfield position at the Etihad Stadium.

Indeed, with Lucas Vázquez suffering a muscle injury following the Madrid derby at the weekend, Fede Valverde is set to play at right-back against Man City, as was seemingly confirmed on the club’s socials.

The full absentee list of Antonio Rüdiger, Dani Carvajal, David Alaba and Eder Militão present a very convincing back four in their own right, so Real Madrid are really struggling to fully replace the quartet.

Real Madrid fans will be hoping that by the end of this month, Rüdiger and Alaba will have returned so that the club can make a push for silverware at the end of the season.
