Sony Pictures released a Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer featuring Lionel Messi meeting the hero, presumably in New York for the 2026 World Cup. It sparked a playful exercise reimagining Inter Miami’s squad as superheroes.

According to interheron.com, Messi’s Marvel-themed celebrations pointed to Spider-Man, yet he is cast here as Nightcrawler, mirroring La Pulga’s darting, elusive bursts. The on-screen pairing rules out Spider-Man.

Rodrigo De Paul, Messi’s bodyguard and friend who left Atlético Madrid last summer, fits Falcon, with Nightwing another shout. Luis Suárez channels Lobo or Wolverine, brilliant but combustible, his past bites and spitting linger.

Italian midfielder Yannick Bright evokes Black Panther, strong, swift and poised. Homegrown Noah Allen is Captain America, a dependable left-side defender who has captained at 22 and represents the Ethniki.

Maxi Falcón brings Tasmanian Devil levels of chaos, not always helpful. Micael, at six foot three, has Luke Cage’s imposing presence across the back line.

Tadeo Allende, Miami’s greatest deep threat when fit, is the Flash, a rapid winger who hit a record nine goals in last year’s MLS Cup play-offs before a knee injury.
