An insight into the reasoning behind La Liga giants Barcelona’s failure to push a deal for transfer target Jonathan Tah over the line has on Friday been provided.
The info comes courtesy of journalist Fabrizio Romano, and points towards the logjam in Hansi Flick’s squad as the leading factor.
The name of defender Tah has of course long proven a leading one in the headlines across the Spanish media.
This comes after a number of outlets went as far as to assure that the German international, ahead of the expiration of his Bayer Leverkusen contract in the summer, had reached an agreement with the Barcelona board over the terms of a pre-contract.
Tah, for his part, is understood to have given priority to the Blaugrana when it comes to his next club.
And yet, months on from such claims first surfacing, little has been forthcoming in terms of updates.
All of a Barca persuasion, in turn, will no doubt be interested to hear of as much at last being provided on Friday.
As per a report from Fabrizio Romano:
‘Barcelona advanced on Jonathan Tah deal in December… then Araujo ended up staying and Eric Garcia too, that’s why deal has not been sealed so far.’
Such developments have allowed Bayern Munich to reenter the fray, in ‘concrete talks’ with Tah and his entourage over a deal of their own.
