Reports in Italy suggest that Juventus are still able to terminate Paul Pogba’s contract, despite the fact that he will be eligible to return to action in March 2025, as the former Manchester United midfielder could be in breach of his contract.

Pogba was handed a four-year ban after he failed a post-match doping test after a 3-0 win over Udinese in August 2023. His suspension was reduced to just 18 months on Friday after a successful appeal to the European Court of Arbitration.

Though The Frenchman is eligible to return to training in January and then to competitive action in March, his return could cause a few issues for Juventus’s accounts. He earns a reported €8m plus €2m in bonuses on his full annual salary, but has been earning the minimum of €2,000 per month for the duration of his ban.

Reports on Friday night indicated that Juventus would still look to move Pogba on rather than reintegrate him. Thiago Motta already has Teun Koopmeiners, Kenan Yildiz and even Douglas Luiz at his disposal for the advanced midfield role.

La Gazzetta dello Sport suggest, however, that Juventus could still be within their rights to terminate Pogba’s deal due to a breach of contract.

If Pogba is found to have breached his contract by failing a doping test, then Juventus would be able to terminate his deal with no further repercussions.

If that is not the case, then the Bianconeri could still look to negotiate a termination by mutual agreement according to Saturday’s reports.

Meanwhile, clubs in Saudi Arabia and the MLS have already been suggested as possible next destinations, while Patrice Evra has implored his former teammate to move to Roberto De Zerbi’s Marseille.
