Setbacks and planned returns left Leeds United without several players for their first pre-season friendly against Wrexham in America.

yorkshireevenpost.co.uk understands that Dominic Calvert-Lewin suffered a small pre-season setback that halted his individual programme. He is training separately on camp and building towards a return to team training and playing.

Jaka Bijol has taken a knock to his knee, which is why he is not involved, while Sebastiaan Bornauw has a very minor issue and is not being risked.

Leeds had already revealed that winger Noah Okafor was given extra time off after Switzerland reached the World Cup quarter-finals, and that he would not feature on the tour of America.

The Whites had also said that players involved at the World Cup would feature later in the tour, explaining the absence of Gabi Gudmundsson, Brenden Aaronson and new signing Tarirk Muharemovic from the Wrexham matchday squad.

Ilia Gruev also missed out as he continues his comeback from a meniscus knee injury.
