Roma reportedly have an agreement in principle with Atletico Madrid over a January deal for Italy international Giacomo Raspadori, but as things stand, the Giallorossi may have to wait a while longer before a move goes through.
According to reports over the weekend, Roma have an agreement in principle with Atletico Madrid over a loan deal with a potential obligation to buy for Raspadori, who joined Diego Simeone’s side in a deal worth €26m during the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old has, however, struggled to cement himself as a starter in Madrid. He has started just once in LaLiga in 2025-26, once in the Copa Del Rey and twice in the Champions League, although he has sat on the bench for Atleti’s last four matches in Europe.

The situation has led to interest from a number of Serie A sides, including Roma and Lazio, as well as a few abroad as well, namely Galatasaray.

Roma have reportedly secured an agreement over a loan with a potential obligation to buy with Atletico Madrid, but according to the latest updates from Sky Sport Italia, there is still a way to go before a transfer is completed.
That is because Raspadori is still reportedly undecided, and is still wanting to prove himself at Atletico Madrid.
He played for just shy of 20 minutes in a 1-1 draw with Real Sociedad on Sunday, and unless there are any major breakthroughs in the coming hours, he is expecting to set off with the Atletico squad for the Supercopa de Espana in Saudi Arabia, which begins on Wednesday.
So, unless Roma seal a deal before Atletico set off for Riyadh on Tuesday, it is likely that they will have to wait for the end of the Supercopa de Espana to continue negotiations.
