Portuguese tactician will be reunited with Man United later this summer

Ruben Amorim has his first job since leaving Manchester United, thus saving his former club millions of pounds.

Financially, the decision to part company with Amorim was an expensive one, with suggestions it could end up costing the club almost £16million.

Crucially though, it was reported the maximum amount of £15.9m was dependent on certain factors, such as 41-year-old Amorim getting a new job within a specific timeframe.

Following confirmation that Amorim has signed a two-year deal, with an option of a third to become the new AC Milan head coach, his compensation payments from Man United will be slashed should he be appointed by the Italian giants.

It is unclear as to what the new figure would be, but not having to pay the Portuguese tactician the maximum amount would certainly be good news for Man Utd ahead of what is expected to be a busy summer in the transfer window.

Having reportedly agreed a £35m deal to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson, Man Utd are also said to be targeting a left-back, a left-winger and one other central midfielder to bolster Michael Carrick's squad ahead of the new season.

Lewis Hall and Bradley Barcola are just some of the names being linked with a switch to Old Trafford, while any deal for West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes will cost £80m - unless the Hammers change their stance on negotiations.

Amorim succeeding Massimiliano Allegri at the San Siro means a Man United reunion will be on the cards as the two sides are scheduled to meet in a pre-season friendly on August 15 in Wroclaw, Poland.
