Wolves could face almost a four-week gap between matches if Arsenal’s visit is brought forward because of the Carabao Cup final and they fail to extend their FA Cup run.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, Rob Edwards’ side were due to host Arsenal at Molineux on Saturday, March 21, the same weekend as the Wembley showpiece, but the fixture would be moved to Wednesday, February 18, 8pm, live on Sky Sports, if Arsenal reach the final. The club are said to be very disappointed with the decision and had pushed for it to be rearranged later in the season.
Arsenal hold a 3-2 advantage over Chelsea from the semi-final first leg. The second leg takes place on February 3, and progression would trigger the rescheduling.
With an international break at the end of March, Wolves would need to make the FA Cup quarter-finals to avoid a near four-week hiatus should the Arsenal game be shifted. They face Grimsby in the fourth round next month, then must win a fifth-round tie in early March.
If they fall short in the FA Cup and the Arsenal match is moved, Wolves would play Brentford on March 16, then not again until April 11 away to West Ham.
