By now, it is no secret that Bayern Munich are looking to do whatever they can to tie Jamal Musiala down to a new long-term deal at the club.

The 21-year-old’s deal at the Allianz Arena is set to expire in 2026, and in order to prevent the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Barcelona from tempting Musiala away for free next season, Der Rekormdiester have been attempting to strike a deal with the midfielder.

However, despite negotiations having been ongoing for the best part of a year, it is understood that Bayern and Musiala are no closer to agreeing on an extension.

As reported by Florian Plettenberg, while both parties want to reach a positive conclusion, they are still far apart in their demands.

According to Sport Bild, Musiala’s management are hoping to secure a €175 million release clause in any contract extension that would see the 21-year-old free to leave Bavaria should another club pay the fee.

Nevertheless, Der Rekordmeister remain unwilling to implement this clause into the deal.

With talks still ongoing, it appears as though it will come down to who is more stubborn.

Unless Bayern are able to convince Musiala’s management against a release clause, either Bayern will not want to risk losing the midfielder for free and relent, or the German international will walk away from talks.
