Will Crystal Palace midweek rotation spare them from Elland Road trap?

Crystal Palace face a rapid return to Premier League action on Saturday night when they travel to Elland Road to meet Leeds United just 48 hours after their draining European engagement against KuPS.
Oliver Glasner’s side were left frustrated by that 2-2 draw in Finland which denied them automatic progression in the Conference League and extended a schedule that is beginning to test the depth of their squad.
That context makes this trip to West Yorkshire a deceptively awkward assignment despite Leeds starting the weekend just outside the relegation zone.
Crystal Palace arrive with momentum in the league and remain firmly embedded in the top-four conversation after a sustained run of strong domestic performances.
Their defeat to Manchester City last weekend did little to undermine the broader impression of a side playing with clarity and confidence particularly away from home.
However the short turnaround from Europe presents a genuine physical and mental challenge especially against opponents who have shown a growing appetite for exploiting lapses.
Leeds United may sit 17th but recent results suggest that position understates the difficulty they pose.
Daniel Farke’s side have taken points from Liverpool and Chelsea in their last three outings and were unfortunate not to claim all three against Brentford after dominating large spells.
A shift to a back three has stabilised them defensively while allowing greater freedom in attack and their improvement has been immediate rather than gradual.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s resurgence has provided Leeds with a reliable focal point and they have scored with greater regularity in recent weeks.
Elland Road has also become a more hostile setting for visiting sides with Leeds scoring and conceding in each of their last six home league matches.
That volatility suits a team fighting for survival and makes them dangerous against sides managing fatigue.
Crystal Palace will need to rely on their structure and game management rather than fluency if they are to navigate this fixture successfully.
Glasner rotated heavily in midweek and may again be forced into selective changes with the priority firmly on sustaining their league form.
The Eagles have been among the strongest travellers in the division this calendar year and that resilience could prove decisive.
Yet Leeds have shown that they require little invitation to capitalise on mistakes and they are unlikely to approach this fixture with the caution their league position might imply.
With contrasting pressures and little margin for error on either side this shapes up as one of the more unpredictable fixtures of the weekend.
