Willian Arão sues former Brazil goalkeeper Doni over alleged multimillion property scam | OneFootball

Willian Arão, a Flamengo starter in the 2019 ‘magical year’ and now at Santos, has filed a lawsuit against former Brazil goalkeeper Doni over an alleged multimillion real estate scheme in Florida. According to Coluna Do Fla, the midfielder is seeking R$ three million in damages from Doni’s company D32 over properties in the United States.

Arão also accuses Doni of fraud linked to the Camila Holmes development in Florida, and is pursuing legal fees, taxes and interest both before and after any eventual judgment.

In a statement via his press office, Arão said the matter is genuine, that attempts to reach an amicable solution failed, and that filing the action became necessary. He added he is awaiting the regular progress of the case through the courts.

“In this context, specific commercial disagreements arose with certain clients, a common situation in large-scale ventures, all regularly submitted to the judiciary and handled technically and within the law,” Doni said, speaking to GE. “I state categorically that there is no arrest request. At today’s hearing, the company’s lawyer appeared, and the judge confirmed that all requested documentation had previously been delivered. The judge recognised full compliance with judicial obligations, validating that we are fully up to date,” he added.

TV Globo reports that D32 raised money in Brazil and abroad, promising returns of up to 15% per year from building homes in mid and high-end condominiums in Florida. The works were abandoned, causing losses, yet investors such as Arão continued receiving financial reports showing profits. A new deposition of D32 representatives has been scheduled in the United States for one May.
