Barcelona star Wojciech Szczęsny has on Monday provided an update on his future with the club.
And the news will no doubt go down a treat with those hopeful of seeing the Pole stay put through the summer and into next season.
Goalkeeper Szczęsny has of course spent the last couple of months establishing himself as the new first-choice option between the posts in Hansi Flick’s Barcelona squad.
After initially being brought in to act as cover for Iñaki Peña following the long-term injury suffered by Marc-André ter Stegen, the 34-year-old has more than proven himself to the Blaugrana coaching staff.
So much so that Szczęsny could yet see his stay in Catalunya’s capital extended beyond the summer.
Upon linking up with Barcelona back in October, the former Arsenal and Juventus shot-stopper penned terms through the conclusion of the campaign.
Speaking to the media on Monday, though, Szczęsny admitted that he has opened the door to an extended Camp Nou stay:
“If you asked me at the start of the season, I’d say I’ll be leaving Barça in June. But I love the time I‘ve spent here. My family is happy, my son loves his school, my wife loves being here… I’m open to everything.”
