Championship clubs are among the sides keen on signing Hibernian forward Kieron Bowie this January.

According to Darren Witcoop, the 23-year-old could make the move to English football during the winter market.

The Scotland international is in his second season with the Premiership team, and has so far contributed seven goals from 20 appearances this term.

He arrived in the 2024 summer transfer window from Fulham after previously spending time on loan with Northampton Town.

Across two campaigns with the Cobblers, he registered 15 goals and six assists from 62 appearances across League Two and League One, helping the club gain promotion in 2023.

Bowie is attracting a lot of transfer interest in the January transfer window following his performances in Scotland for Hibernian.

It’s been claimed that there are several Championship clubs eyeing a possible deal to sign the forward before the 2 February deadline.

However, they all face stiff competition from Premier League team Wolves, as well as Scottish giants Rangers.

Bowie has a contract until the summer of 2028, meaning Hibs have no immediate need to cash in on the player this month.

It remains to be seen what the forward’s preference is at this stage, with the Premiership side sitting fifth in the table and in contention to qualify for Europe for next season.

Meanwhile, Wolves look set to be relegated to the second division under new manager Rob Edwards, with the club earning just seven points from their first 21 games of the campaign.

Danny Rohl's side are second in the Premiership, seven clear of Hibs, with the two teams also playing 21 times so far this campaign.

It is still unclear which Championship sides are keen on signing Bowie at this stage, with all second division outfits competing in the third round of the FA Cup this weekend.

Kieron Bowie signing could provide required additional firepower

Bowie has taken the step up to the Premiership well after his two loan spells at Northampton, contributing regular goals for Hibs over the last 18 months.

He is someone that could potentially make a difference at a Championship level for teams who need the additional firepower.

At 23, he is also still young and could retain a strong resale value, depending on the eventual cost of any possible deal concluded this month.

But with the player’s contract running to 2028, and there being interest from Wolves and Rangers, it won’t be straightforward for any Championship side to secure his signature.
