Wolves are exploring a loan move for Angel Gomes, with talks under way with Marseille, talkSPORT reports.
Rooted to the bottom of the Premier League, Wolves need late-window reinforcements, trailing Nottingham Forest by 17 points despite improved form since the New Year.
The 25-year-old former Manchester United prospect moved to Marseille on a free from Lille last summer. He has recently slipped down the pecking order, playing only eight minutes across the last five Ligue 1 matches.
Gomes made his senior England debut under Lee Carsley in 2024. Limited club minutes have dented hopes of a first call-up under Thomas Tuchel before the World Cup.
A return to the Premier League would be his first since leaving United in 2020 after five league appearances, with previous interest from Everton and Tottenham not coming to fruition.
Now operating as a deep-lying midfielder who can dictate play, Gomes has been likened by former United youth coach Paul McGuinness to Frenkie de Jong, praised for receiving from the back four and controlling tempo. Wolves have yet to make a January signing, and a deal for Gomes could be their first. He has previously expressed a desire to return to the Premier League if the opportunity arose.
