Brazilian midfielder Andre has signed a new four-year contract at Wolves to 2030, with an option for a further year, despite relegation.

Chairman Nathan Shi said talks had been ongoing for months, that Andre’s desire to stay had not wavered, that the midfielder believes in the club and its push to return to the Premier League as soon as possible, and that the deal is a statement of intent which underlines long-term ambition and sends a message to other players.

The 24-year-old joined from Fluminense for £18.5m in 2024 and has made 74 appearances in all competitions.

Capped eight times by Brazil while at Molineux, he also struck a memorable winner in the March victory over Liverpool.

Relegation was confirmed last month and a string of high-profile departures had been expected this summer. Joao Gomes looks certain to leave, and many supporters thought Andre would depart too.
