According to ExpressAndStar.com, Wolves staff have flown to Mexico to finalise the re-signing of Raul Jimenez, with the club aiming to complete the deal this week.
The 35-year-old is currently in camp with Mexico’s national team for the World Cup, with Mexico hosting South Africa in Thursday’s opening game. He will leave Fulham at the end of his contract, a development made public today, and Championship Wolves are set to beat several rivals, including MLS clubs, to his signature.
After the 1-1 draw between Wolves and Fulham in the final Molineux game of last season, Jimenez suggested a return was possible. Early contacts followed and have since advanced.
Wolves are now closing in on an agreement, with their delegation seeking to complete the formalities and medical during the trip.
Jimenez scored 57 goals and supplied 23 assists in 166 Wolves appearances from 2018 to 2023, initially on loan from Benfica before a club-record £30 million move. He was integral under Nuno Espirito Santo, helping to deliver back-to-back seventh-placed Premier League finishes, a Europa League quarter-final and an FA Cup semi-final.
He fractured his skull in a clash of heads with Arsenal’s David Luiz in November 2020, then returned wearing a headguard. He later joined Fulham for £5.5 million in 2023, where he registered 31 goals and six assists in 115 games.
