Wolves have set an asking price for Santiago Bueno as Premier League clubs circle after his steady season, with the club now bound for the Championship.

AS reports that Wolves would accept around €25m (£21.6m) for the defender. At that level the sale would be just under three times what they paid, although Girona hold a 20% sell-on so part of the fee would head to his former club.

Four Premier League clubs are understood to be keen, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s West Ham United and Crystal Palace, who now have Matt Hobbs as sporting director, among the admirers. Bueno is believed to want to remain in the Premier League.

Given his consistency this season, the mooted price feels fair. He has 66 Premier League appearances and eight caps for Uruguay.

While not the quickest, Bueno has shown himself a capable, ball playing centre-back valued by many teams. He has improved since arriving and could yet make Wolves money in the market.

Ideally he would stay, but the interest is understandable. In a season that was so poor for Wolves collectively, he was among the few to perform well throughout.
