Cesar Peixoto’s Wolves are drilling wide play in Portugal, with several options standing out in pre-season.
ExpressAndStar.com notes a strong focus on flank-led build-up and attacking phases, and the club could yet seek further width in the market.
First looks at £7.7million arrival Rafiki Said show a left-sided threat who can go inside or outside. A right-footed strike from distance hit the post, underlining two-footed pace and trickery that could hurt teams in 2026/27. His English needs work, and he is currently speaking French.
Mateus Mane’s versatility across both flanks and as a number 10 has been used. The 18-year-old looks sharper and stronger after bulking up, and could be a real asset if Wolves can keep him.
With a back four likely, Rodrigo Gomes has operated higher up, often from the right. He brings his usual hunger and technical quality, with decision-making the area to refine.
Fer Lopez can play wide but has frequently worked as a number 10. After a difficult year and a loan back to his old club, he looks more settled, and Peixoto is understood to be a fan prepared to play him in the Championship if he meets the physical test.
Tom Edozie, who equalised late on his Premier League debut at Arsenal in February, has started solidly and could force a place if he convinces staff. Enso Gonzalez, 21, is back with the group after a serious knee injury in 2024, has pace but some hesitancy and may need a loan.
