World Cup 2026 bracket, qualified teams and Spain’s possible rivals

The 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada is moving towards the knockouts, with 32 of the 48 teams set for an expanded round of 32. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the tournament is transitioning from groups to the bracket.
In this edition the eliminators begin one round earlier, creating extra opportunities for nations unaccustomed to deep runs.
Argentina became the first side to qualify mathematically for the last 32. With Leo Messi starring, they recorded heavy wins in their two matches to date and sealed swift passage.
Germany in Group E, the United States in Group D and Mexico in Group A have also progressed, with South Africa advancing as runners-up. As matchday three began, Switzerland confirmed top spot while Canada went through in second. Bosnia remain third awaiting results elsewhere.
In Group C, Brazil took first place after easing past Scotland and finishing ahead of Morocco on goal difference. Scotland must wait until all groups conclude to know if they advance among the best third-placed sides. Spain’s potential opponents will become clearer as the remaining group results come in.
