The 2026 World Cup, staged in Canada, the United States and Mexico, kicks off on Thursday 11 June with hosts Mexico facing South Africa at 21.00 hours. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, La 1 and La2 Cat will show the standout match each day and all Spain games, with every fixture on DAZN through to the New York final on 19 July.

To mark the start, VinTV is reviving the animated series Naranjito: Fútbol en acción, fronted by Spain’s 1982 World Cup mascot. It is its first linear broadcast since its original run.

The show follows Naranjito with Clementina, Citronio and the robot Imarchi as they defend football’s spirit and explain its rules. They try to foil the villain Zruspa and his children, the Cocos, who seek to undermine fair play.

The production includes interviews with Alfredo Di Stéfano and narration by veteran journalist Matías Prats. It was co-produced by TVE and BRB Internacional.

VinTV will marathon the series on 11 June from 12.00 hours, then air one episode daily from 08.30 hours. It will be available on demand, and the channel is carried by major operators in Spain and on Amazon Prime Video via AMC CHANNELS.

La 1 adds a new half-hour daily highlights show during Telediario 1 with Lara Gandarillas and Marcos López. Teledeporte will re-run the best match each morning and air Estadio 2 Mundial live at 14.00 hours with Marc Martín, plus Gran Estadio Mundial in the afternoon and Estudio Estadio Mundial at night.
