It's done! Gabon will not be at the 2026 World Cup. Nigeria claims victory in the first play-off semi-final.
On Thursday night in Rabat, Nigeria defeated Gabon 4-1 in the opening semi-final of the 2026 World Cup play-offs. Adams broke the deadlock after a huge blunder by Appindangoye (78'), before Lemina equalized with a deflected strike late in the match (89').
The Super Eagles sealed the win in extra time with goals from Ejuke (97') and Osimhen (102', 109'), who had earlier squandered two golden chances at the end of regular time. Nigeria will play in the final on Sunday against either Cameroon or the Democratic Republic of Congo.
