World Cup: Bap protests at FIFA payout to Flamengo for call-ups

What did Bap, Flamengo’s president, say about the amount to be received for the called-up players?

FIFA set an amount of 5,000 dollars per day (around R$ 25,000) for clubs that had players called up for the World Cup. In light of this, Bap, president of Flamengo, spoke out against world football’s governing body and disagreed with the amounts that were set.

Few clubs face problems because many do not have that many players called up. So there is no sense of solidarity among clubs on the matter, not even regarding the financial compensation criteria -, he said, before concluding: Just look at it, 5,000 dollars per day with a cap of 25 days for the use of your asset. You have no right to give your opinion on the amount of compensation for your asset. And these amounts will only be paid in December -, Bap concluded in an interview with ‘UOL’.

In this edition of the World Cup, Flamengo had nine players called up. Therefore, the Rubro-Negro will collect around R$ 225,000 per day from FIFA. Even given Bap’s outrage, Mengão is the Brazilian club that will earn the most from this mechanism in the national-team tournament.

WHICH FLAMENGO PLAYERS WERE CALLED UP?

In the Brazil National Team, Flamengo has four players called up. They are: Danilo, Léo Pereira, Alex Sandro and Lucas Paquetá. Arrascaeta, De La Cruz and Varela are part of Uruguay’s squad. Finally, Plata and Carrascal are in the squads for Ecuador and Colombia, respectively.
