According to The Star, the Red Dragons are considering an approach for the Wales international as they look to add established Championship players to their squad.

Phil Parkinson is looking to build a team capable of competing in the second tier this year, having guided them to promotion from League One at the first attempt last season.

Moore, who is estimated to earn £25k-a-week at Bramall Lane, joined the Blades last summer, and the 32-year-old contributed five goals from 32 league appearances as the team finished third in the table, reaching the play-off final.

It has been reported that Wrexham are interested in a move for Moore ahead of their first game in the Championship in just over two weeks.

The Welsh outfit are keen to add experience to their squad this summer, with their ambition to remain in the second tier beyond just one campaign.

It’s understood that Moore is under consideration, but it remains to be seen whether Sheffield United would be open to a move at this stage.

The Welshman has a contract at Bramall Lane until the summer of 2027, so there is no immediate pressure to cash in.

However, the 32-year-old could find himself behind Tyrese Campbell, and perhaps even Ryan Oné, in Ruben Selles’ side this season, which could open the door to an exit.

While it’s believed that Sheffield United’s focus at the moment is on signing new players, Wrexham’s interest in Moore could tempt the Yorkshire outfit into a sale.

Wrexham’s summer business

Wrexham will be hoping to make a splash in the Championship given their rapid and high-profile rise from non-league to the second tier in just a few years.

The Red Dragons have already added Liberato Cacace, George Thomason, Ryan Hardie and Danny Ward to Parkinson’s squad.

They have until 1 September to complete any other deals before the transfer market shuts.

Wrexham will begin their Championship adventure with a clash away to Southampton on 9 August.

Moore sale could work out quite well for Sheffield United

If Selles will only need one starting forward to lead the line this season, then having Campbell and Oné ahead of Moore in the pecking order could make a sale a reasonable decision.

The striker didn’t have the most impactful campaign last year, and is now no longer in his prime, potentially even entering the final seasons of his career.

If they can get a decent fee for him from Wrexham, then they should take it.

Even a fee in the range of £3 to 4 million might be enough to make a sale worthwhile at this stage, while the Red Dragons continue to heavily invest in experience.
