Wrexham have confirmed Elliot Lee can leave on loan this month, despite his warm relationship with owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. The 31-year-old has been central to three successive promotions from the National League to the second tier after joining on a free in July 2022.

"Elliot trained fully on Monday and we're just managing him." "There's several clubs that want to take Elliot on loan so he's just getting himself ready for that but he's not far off it because he's back in training." "He trained really well (on Monday) and he wants to go and play somewhere, so we'll respect that and give him the opportunity," he told The Leader.

Lee has not featured in a Championship fixture this season, though he made three Carabao Cup appearances before undergoing knee surgery in November. The club said he faced around 12 weeks out and he has since returned to full training.

Competition for places has intensified after the arrivals of club record signing Nathan Broadhead and former Sheffield Wednesday forward Josh Windass, who operate in similar roles. Lee is under contract until the summer of 2027 and has scored 41 goals in just over 150 appearances.

"I think we have got a great relationship with them." "They take an interest in your personal life and how you're actually getting on," Lee said of Reynolds and McElhenney, speaking to GQ Sports in September 2024.
