Now, as per a recent report, it appears Alonso has set his sights on yet another Real Madrid youth player in the form of Jorge Cestero.

Alonso wants to fast-track Cestero’s development

According to Defensa Central, Alonso is increasingly keen on seeing Cestero in action for the first-team.

The young midfielder has impressed onlookers with his performances for Arbeloa’s Castilla squad this season, with many in the camp already calling him the ‘best youth player for the club’ this season.

Aged just 19, Cestero has also had the opportunity to train with the first-team multiple times, which is indicative of Alonso’s trust in the player.

Although he is yet to make his debut for the senior team, the youngster certainly has the support of the head coach.

As per the report, Alonso wants to see him more often in first-team training and if he can continue performing at current levels, he could be in contention to make his debut soon.

In fact, the upcoming Copa Del Rey matches in January could serve as an ideal opportunity for Alonso to hand an opportunity to someone like Cestero.

Cestero is not the only player Xabi Alonso is keeping tabs on either, with the coach also monitoring the development of another midfield talent in Cesar Palacios.

Therefore, the coming months could prove to be interesting as players like Palacios and Cestero look to become a part of Alonso’s first-team plans.
