Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has this week provided an insight into the current situation of attacker Rodrygo in his squad.
This, of course, comes amid the long-term speculation surrounding the Brazilian’s future.
Frontman Rodrygo recently took his place centre stage in the transfer headlines across all of Europe.
This came after a series of reports were forthcoming in the media, suggesting that the 24-year-old was seeking a new challenge this summer.
A whole host of clubs, in turn, were tipped as potential landing spots for Rodrygo, chief among them Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea.
The last couple of weeks have seen the chatter surrounding the versatile winger die down somewhat, amid murmurs that Rodrygo is now leaning back towards staying put at the Santiago Bernabéu.
And this was a message echoed by manager Xabi Alonso when drawn on the South American this week.
During a press conference ahead of Real Madrid’s Club World Cup bow against Al-Hilal on Wednesday, Alonso assured:
“I know what happened. The end of the season wasn’t easy for him. He took some time to reset. We’ve talked since day one, and I see him eager to contribute on the field and enjoy himself.”
