Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea ‘interested in’ Bayer Leverkusen’s Kerim Alajbegović

According to The Athletic, Chelsea are interested in Bayer Leverkusen’s Kerim Alajbegović, with the 18-year-old among attacking options being monitored under former Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso.

Any attacking additions depend on player sales.

Alajbegović was sold to RB Salzburg last summer, then Leverkusen decided to bring him back for a fee of €eight million.

He has previously been linked with Serie A, with Atalanta considered the main contenders, though Leverkusen could command a higher fee from a Premier League side.

He became the eighth-youngest player to score at a World Cup with his goal in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s 3-1 win over Qatar. He was coming through Leverkusen’s academy while Alonso was in charge between October 2022 and May 2025.
